A Caribbean Dish

I am pleased to tell you a little bit about a well-known dish in Caribbean countries, is the “Patacon” or “Toston” the name varies depending on the region. This dish is very common for example in the: Dominican Republic, Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico and others. This plate often replaces rice at lunch, bread for breakfast, could be the main dish in a delicious dinner,or could be used as a side to your favorite foods. The main ingredient is a green plantain, not banana, must be really green, not yellowish, so you can enjoy some good Patacones, with a little oil for frying, crush them, then fry again and ready. But, why don’t we follow the steps together to create the most delicious fried plantains that you’ve never tried before.

Ingredients
serves 3
4 plantains
1 1/2 cup canola oil
4 sheets paper towels salt,
garlic powder
Steps
1) Cut the green plantain in slices 2 inches thick .
1) Cut the green plantain in slices 2 inches thick .
2) Heat oil over medium high heat in a pan, then place plantain slices into the hot oil. Cook for 3 minutes on each side of the plantain slices (top and bottom).
3) Completed the two sides, remove and place on a plate covered with a paper towel to drain the oil. (drain the oil as much as possible in the pan before removing)
4) Take two sheets of paper towel and put them together on the counter or on your cutting board, place a slice of plantain on paper towel, fold it over the slice and flatten with your hand until flattened enough. Repeat with each slice one by one. (Caution reduce heat oil while doing this)
5) Then raise to high heat, and place the plantains into the pan, fry for 1 minute and then get on plate lined with paper towel.
6)Add a pinch of salt and garlic powder to taste. Enjoy
