Pifa! Pifa! who wants Pifa!

     Pifa Fruit

pifa

The Pifa is a delicious fruit, those who know it, know why I say this. I couldn’t find much information on the internet about this fruit, as this varies the name, if I am not wrong, it is well known in Jamaica, but as you know I grew up in the Republic of Panama where we also find in this fruit.
It comes from a very tall palm tree that gives this fruit in clusters, I’d say that is a type of small coconut, and as you know good things come in small packages;) so it’s very enjoyable. If you ever visit a tropical country you now know is a special fruit.
How do we eat it? Washed in water, then placed in boiling salted water until tender.
Let it cool and eat.
It is noteworthy that the shell is removed before eating. After eating the pulp you will find a black seed; crush it, and surprise!! … AAAHH delicious coconut.
And you; do you know this fruit?
